BRYNHILDR

Portrait of Brynhildr

Commenced: 24.02.2014
Finished: 27.03.2014
Mech pencil on Moleskine

I'd been working on-and-off with this portrait for about a month, so it hasn't actually taken me all that time to actually draw it; it's has just been delayed due to commitments with work at university which sometimes allows me less time to produce some of my own work.

I played around with adding texture (and a little colour to the version on the right) just to give it a little something.

Biro on cotton paper

Found this as I was going through some cotton paper stock and forgot to upload it in context with the other panels so I thought I'd post it separate.

BRYNHILDR - W.I.P

Portrait of Brynhildr

Commenced: 24.02.2014
Mech pencil on Moleskine

Trying something a little different with portraits, making a stern-looking Valkyrie with wild and long hair, a strong face - a typical shieldmaiden warrior of Germanic mythology.

CAMILLA

"Camilla"
01-02.01.2014

Mech pencil on Moleskine, digital texture

He had spent the previous night at his spacious flat in Eaton Place in the company of Camilla, a music student with a long body and a sad, beautiful face. Though she was not more than twenty, her black hair was streaked with grey, as if from a shock she never talked about. As another effect, perhaps, of the same undescribed trauma, she ate no meat, wore no leather and drank nothing alcoholic; only in love, it seemed to Guillam, she was free of these mysterious restraints.

- Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy John le Carré

I may revisit this piece.

With Camilla's character, it is interesting because she does not feature in the film, as it deviates from the book slightly in the way of Peter Guillam's relationships. I would've liked to have made her face plainer, her eyes more sad, and her whole image feverishly gaunt. I picture her always in dark rooms, face partially lit by dim lights.
